League Notes and News __________________________________________________________

The FTRL Lightning All-Stars exhibited their postseason dominance over other metro area all-star teams, winning both of their tournament championships!

During the final weekend of July, the Lightning won their 2nd straight All-Star Tournament, topping the field in the 8U Westfield Rocks All-Star Slug Fest in Westfield, IN.  The Lightning went 4-1 in the tournament and beat the Hamilton Heights Husky All-Stars in the Championship Game 12-11.  The Huskies had beat the Lightning 8-0 earlier in the day, so the victory was especially sweet for the players, coaches and parents!

Two weeks earlier, the Lightning won the Lawrence Grand Slam Tournament, defeating the Fishers-HSE Cats 15-0.  The Lightning finished that tournament with a 5-1 record and went 9-2 overall.

Congratulations to the Lightning players and coaches on their success and for representing the FTRL!

Pets and Animals According to Indiana Law, household pets are not permitted on the school grounds for any reason.  So please leave any and all pets at home and do not bring them to the fields, as they are considered to be on school grounds.  Ask any friends or additional family members that would like to attend your child’s game to please leave their pets at home.  Anyone bringing a household pet to the fields will be asked to remove it immediately.

Smoking - Smoking on school grounds is prohibited, so that means there is no smoking at the fields as they are considered to be on school grounds.  Anyone caught smoking will be asked to extinguish it immediately and if it continues, they will be asked to leave the facility.

Parking - Please note that while we manage the facility for the Rookie League, the property is still that of The Franklin Township School District and we must do our best to respect their wishes when it pertains to parking.  The School District does not want anyone parking in the grass anywhere on the facility and points to additional parking on the backside of the elementary school.

Also, there can no longer be any parking along the curbs out front through the entrance of the school drive.  This is for the safety of kids and parents crossing from the parking lots to the fields and back.  There is no problem if people would like to drop off and pick up at the curb but we ask that if the front parking lot is full, to please pull around to the backside for additional parking.

If the situation continues, cars parked in these areas may be ticketed and/or towed by local law enforcement.  So we ask that all please adhere to this policy.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the league through our website.

Thank you,

FTRL Board of Directors
